Shape Constancy


From a different point of view an object can appear to be a different shape than it is in reality. Although the image on our retina changes our perception of the object does not (depending on the familiarity with the object).

From different angles of elevation, the runway will appear to be longer or wider  even though we can perceive that the runway does  not change.
